about

The Impellers are a 12-strong funk, soul and breaks collective from Brighton, UK, who have been consistently releasing and performing live since 2007.

The Impellers first full album 'Robot Legs' was released on UK independent label Freestyle Records in 2009 and featured a guest appearance from DJ and latin percussion legend Snowboy. The second outing 'This Is Not A Drill' made waves in 2012 and was playlisted across Europe. May 2014 will see the release of their third album, entitled 'My Certainty'.

With the new album, the band have shifted the focus squarely onto quality songwriting and showcasing the strong vocal delivery of singer and powerhouse front-lady Clair Witcher. The album includes new styles, including acoustic folk-soul, rootsy RnB and thoughtful ballads, alongside the groove-based funk, latin and afrobeats for which the band have become known. Furthermore, featuring a settled line-up of musicians who have now been together for over two years, the album delivers The Impellers' strongest performances captured on tape. Finally, the album is produced by Ed Meme (Breakin Bread Records) who brings shades of hip hop, breaks and broken beat to the party to finish the sound.
